It’s no secret that we all pay the price to live in paradise, but according to the National Low-Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC Hawaiʻi is the most expensive state in the country to live in.

Even without this new tax, we all have people in our lives who feel the stress of making ends meet every single day, including family, friends and co-workers. Many young people living on the mainland who grew up in Hawai‘i cannot afford to move back home, while other lifelong residents cannot afford to retire in Hawaiʻi.

SECOND HIGHEST TAX BURDEN IN THE COUNTRY

According to a study by WalletHub, the total tax burden for Hawaiʻi residents is 11.57%, just behind New York which currently has the highest tax burden of 13.04%. We don’t want to be number one on that list
